The default writeback type is a .PDF attached into patient records. However, for some PIMS and lab integrations, discrete writeback is supported. With discrete writeback, lab results are inserted directly into the system as if they were keyed in by a practice user. This functionality is not enabled by default and requires a few set-up steps, which this guide will assist with.

To determine if this feature is supported for your system, confirm within the application:

  • Launch the Vetlabs application
  • Click your lab icon
  • Navigate to the MappingĀ tab, then Setup
  • Look for the Discrete Writeback toggle

If using Cornerstone, a lab template must be mapped within the Vetlabs application. Please see Vetlabs for CornerstoneĀ for more details.
